Poem: "The Fragile"

"The Fragile"

Watching the skeletons
as they crawl out
of the closet
as broken bones
seethe in quiet disgust

Silence pervades
the subtle spaces
between you and I
begin to fade
as the distance grows

I will wait for you
my dearest one
amid the larks
that fly overhead

Walking alone
to the pond
I cast a pebble
and watch it skip along
the clear water

As I close my eyes
I wish for you
and, in that fleeting moment,
our embrace lingers
as you kiss
my aching mouth.
