Poem: "Shake My Tree"

"Shake My Tree"

Her eyes, beautiful and bright
swept across the sea of faces
in the room
her hips swaying as she walked
towards the bar

She lit a cigarette
and leaned over to
the bartender
and whispered something in her ear
her voice, a whisper in the wind

All the desire in the world
could never tame her
I did not have in me
to give her what she wanted

And yet, she smiled in my direction and said:

Come on, baby
I know you want me
shake my tree
let my body set your inhibitions free
because if you're good
I'll let you in for a night
fuck me like I think you should
because you can't resist me, try as you might

Come on, baby
shake my tree.

Poem: "Dust and Promises"

"Dust and Promises"

Come closer, she said
with a knowing smile
moving towards me
with the trained grace
of a ballet dancer

Desire is a blade
that cuts too close
to my fragile skin
the blood on my hands
falling away
in desperate pieces

When all I wanted
was your touch
as the sun sets
all we shared

Fades away
until all that is left
is dust and
unfulfilled promises.
