Poem: "The Locked Door"

"The Locked Door"

Falling into
a gasping breath
memories fade
in the gaping wound
of never

Your kiss
upon my desperate mouth
lingers like the shadows
in the misty-eyed
farewell

Of a goodbye that
should have never
been uttered
in soft, teary whispers

Gone.. gone.. gone.

Poem: "Separated"

"Separated"

Underneath the discontented sky
where feeling ends
and the silent horror builds
such a perfect child
waiting to be held

Her small frame
shaking violently
like a twisted reed
in the wind

I cannot go back
as much as I would want to
it's over now, the darkness
looming with ethereal triumph

As I lay here motionless
the blood in my veins
has run cold
as my face contorts
in a final scream
never uttered.

Poem: "She and Him"

"She and Him"

She:

I am more than just a pretty face
arms, long legs
and a vagina

You make me ache so bad
it hurts to cross my legs
dust off your lust
from the corner shelf

Oh baby, I know you will
do it, right here and now
invade my private space
with your dirty thoughts
longing to leak out

Him:

Bated breath in my chest
as the moon illuminates
your perfect nakedness
warmth against mine

The world falls away
as inhibition fades
the discourse of
passionate surrender
envelops the silence
overtaking the roaring
of the neglected tides
of ambivalent Fate.

Poem: "Goodbye"

"Goodbye"

You take
and take
with selfish hands
and harsh words

Cutting my heart out
as I bleed
slumped on the floor
body fading

All the forgotten time
is gone now
like the silent wind
rustling the leaves

As the white wolf howls
the door creaks open
and life rushes out of me

Like a lover scorned
the laughter escapes from
within as I exhale
one defiant last breath
middle finger raised

Farewell
my favorite mistake
goodbye.

Poem: "Never Fade"

"Never Fade"

The sun won't shine
quite as brightly
the music is gone
replaced by uncomfortable silence

You were a shooting star
so beautiful and vibrant
why did you have to burn
out so soon?

I'll carry your memory
with me forever
and the love you shared
will never be forgotten

I love you, dear one
Never fade away

Poem: "On The Run"

"On The Run"

She smiled as
the door closed
behind her
this was the last
time

Falling away
forgetting to breathe
my lungs take you
in
once more

Step outside
into the waiting arms
of the shadowy velvet
winking murder

Blood so hot
it races in your
expectant veins
like a underpaid
whore

Take me far
from this place
of desolation
and feverish
sweet pain

Until the lure
of your possessive embrace
ensnares me again
just for old times sake

Spread your thighs
wide
and let the ripe air
drink your wanton desire

As you throw your head back in ecstasy
let me in
watching your every moment

My inhibition is gone
always
on the run.

Poem: "Holding On"

"Holding On"

Everybody's on the run
gripping tightly at the wheel
chasing the setting of the sun
moment with you I want to steal

If you decide that it's best to leave
the darkness threatening to come in
my broken heart won't get a reprieve
being without you is the greatest sin

Holding on
but you're on the run
holding on
but you're on the run

Gone now
lost without you
but I'm still...

Holding on.

Poem: "Fuck Chaucer"

"Fuck Chaucer"
- for Bukowski.

At the old joint
on the corner of
Hollywood and Vine
where the homeless scatter the street
like flies with their shit stained pants
and wrinkled upturned, gleaming teeth

"Spare some change, fella?," he asks

I ignore him and keep walking
lost in thought, my mind rambles
to the moment of the open door
when I caught my woman
in bed with another
fresh faced dancer
burying her tongue deep inside
her nether parts

"The bitch", I thought
oh, how I wanted to yell
and stomp and kick her
cheating ass out
and onto the cold, hard street

But no, like a pauper
I left without a word
went down the stairs
as Sinatra played
on the old transistor radio

"I'm fucking up," I said to myself
lighting up a cigarette
and taking in the cool night air
with each anxious breath
ever closer to the climax
of pathetic hands
on the jarring wheel.

Poem: "Want"

"Want"

Your lips
the softness of your mouth
the sweet taste of your kiss
lingering in the aftermath

Your smile
the music of your laugh
the magnetic pull of
your radiant eyes

Your subtle touch
every beautiful curve
of your sensual body

I want you feel
your love so deep inside
the desire coming out
in the moment of our
inevitable intersection.

Poem: "Resistance"

I.

In  the days of before
when men died and bled
courage gained nevermore
it's all been done and said

II.

The sky ominous and black
soldiers with their stone faces
never to find a soul they lack
only to go into desperate places

III.

Walk subtle on hallowed ground
a newborn baby cries, freed from mother's womb
lest the agony of one's screams make a tortured sound
love me a moment longer from our beautiful tomb.

Poem: "Hot Shower and Vodka"

"Hot Shower and Vodka"

HE:

I called you on the line
three rings
no one home
been on my mind

I'm tired of sitting home
need your kind of trouble
tonight

SHE:

Step inside
my private space
to share together
a stolen moment
with you

Wet skin
subtle embrace
a kiss
ever softly

An unspoken invitation
of what could be

HE:

Hot and sticky
the hunger burns
through our desire
consuming us
in its path

Unfold slowly
stay with me now
under the cascade of water
and drink me

Until your thirst is satisfied.

Poem: "White Flag"

"White Flag"

Rainy night
dark and cold
teeth chatter
breath on the window
of an infallible chasm

Towards inescapable
parting
as my flag of last resistance
lies smoldering

You stand before me
destiny in a bridal gown
your embrace engulfs me
in inevitable intersection

The feel of your tectonic plates
as I surrender
drowning in a sea
of molten desire.

Poem: "Shake My Tree"

"Shake My Tree"

Her eyes, beautiful and bright
swept across the sea of faces
in the room
her hips swaying as she walked
towards the bar

She lit a cigarette
and leaned over to
the bartender
and whispered something in her ear
her voice, a whisper in the wind

All the desire in the world
could never tame her
I did not have in me
to give her what she wanted

And yet, she smiled in my direction and said:

Come on, baby
I know you want me
shake my tree
let my body set your inhibitions free
because if you're good
I'll let you in for a night
fuck me like I think you should
because you can't resist me, try as you might

Come on, baby
shake my tree.

Poem: "Dust and Promises"

"Dust and Promises"

Come closer, she said
with a knowing smile
moving towards me
with the trained grace
of a ballet dancer

Desire is a blade
that cuts too close
to my fragile skin
the blood on my hands
falling away
in desperate pieces

When all I wanted
was your touch
as the sun sets
all we shared

Fades away
until all that is left
is dust and
unfulfilled promises.

Poem: "Horizon"

"Horizon"

SHE:

Lying in this cold, empty bed
all the warmth is gone
but still
I look for you
in the shadows
of unknown dark

Even now
the fire burns bright
as you threaten to consume me whole
how I need you still

HE:

Trapped in this
cocoon of loneliness
the days blur into one another
as I struggle to make sense of
life without you

SHE:

Memories of you
cling to me
like whispers in the wind
as I look out the window
I desperately want to see
you standing there
waiting for me

Just once more
for old times' sake

HE:

I've been floating adrift
all these lost years
without you
holding onto hope
and praying
to a God who's remained
silently watching our drama unfold
that you would come back to me

SHE:

I never stopped loving you
you've given me joy beyond compare
and nothing in this world matters
more to me than you

HE:

Right here, right now
I look to the sky
and close my eyes
as your love fills the air I breathe

Take me with you
never let go
ever again

I need you, I love you, I want you
when you wake, I shall wait there for you
and long for the moment to begin
when we can share our forever after.

Poem: "Walk Away (Don't Go)"

"Walk Away (Don't Go)"

The sky
so open and yet
so achingly distant

As I wake up
the glaring light
from new day
blinds me
for a moment

You left
without a word
or a goodbye

The sweetness of your kiss
the way you felt against me
meant everything to me

And as I close my eyes,
in the stillness of the moment
as I watch the world unfold

I see your face
one more time
as I reach out
longing for you

I fall to the cold ground
as darkness envelops all around
swallowing me whole.

Poem: "Bridging The Gap"

"Bridging The Gap

HE:

I lay here
in this cold space
the memory
of the beautiful lines
of your perfect form
burned forever
into my brain

I reach out to you
hoping to touch
a piece of heaven
but you are gone

Still I hold onto you
as fragments of what we shared
now replaced by distance
haunt my mind
like a familiar black and white

SHE:

Every moment away
from you seems forced
I'm condemned to
live a forlorn existence

If I could
just hear your voice
trace the lines of your face
drown in your embrace
as we fall towards the bed
our bodies intertwined in desperate need
if just once, our permanent fate
let it be so

HE:

The night sky
seems empty
the rain soaks me
to the bone

I am a wayward soul
without the compass of your love
to guide me home

If I never see you again
Please know
that nothing in this world
or the aftermath
could keep me
from you

SHE:

As I watch the sun rise
My thoughts fly to you
where ever you may be
longing to join our hearts
once more

Mutual devotion
inescapable
as our love
bridges the gap.

Poem: "Crescendo"

"Crescendo"

NEED:

Your subtle charms
the glimmer of forever
in your beautiful gaze
the way your simple touch
changes everything

DESIRE:

A quiet space to share
daydreams of you
just because
to feel your warmth
beside me

As our bodies intertwine
in unspoken devotion
illuminated by perfect moonlight
the passion rises
in the shadows
of unbridled want.

Poem: "The Burning"

"The Burning"

If subtle light
from death of former day
threaten to overtake
the oncoming night
lesser souls will fail
and weaker hearts
falter in their noble
resolve

A final candle burns quietly
in the empty space we longed to share
though you are far away
your beauty is etched in my cold heart

And I shall wait here
for you
as your last kiss
lingers still
on my desperate mouth

The only thing you left behind
was this note:

"The beauty of the stars may fade
and oceans rise and die
but my love for you
will always remain."

Until you come back
the burning of my restless heart
will go on
someday, leading you
home
in my arms again forever.

Poem: “As Luck Would Have It”

“As Luck Would Have It”

The night air howls
as the darkness settles in
with its bluish incandescent light
shimmering against my face

The bed is cold now
sleep comes like a phantom
stirring up the lovely bones
pieces of what was remain

Forever trapped inside
wanting to come out
at the seams

Sitting at the old desk
as I try to make sense
of my state of disarray
a candle burns defiantly

I am not the same
life has lost its luster
the flowers once in bloom
lay dead now in my hands

If I had the words
that would make you stay
so you would know
what was inside

I’d run into your waiting embrace
my lips aching to kiss yours
to hold you and feel the warmth
of your body against mine

And whisper:
“please come home
my love
how I need you so.”

Poem: "Away"

“Away”

HE:

Time apart from you
is torture that my fragile heart
can’t bear for too long
to the point that
I can’t breathe

SHE:

I count the days
while you are gone
and my brain wraps itself
around you like a cocoon
not wanting to let go

HE:

The sun light seems to flicker and fade
as the darkness within my quiet spaces
is slowly overtaken
cannot find a way out

SHE:

The greatest sin
Has not been loving you
because you make
everything I do seem easy

But, if you must know,
missing you has become
the cause of my unraveling
and I need you still
more than I can ever say

Don’t go away.

Poem: "The Boy Standing In The Middle of The Tracks"

“The Boy Standing In The Middle of The Tracks”

The peculiar lump in his throat
subtle changes in the wind
against his bare skin
reminds me
of how small he is

The lights are blinding
as he closes his eyes shut
a strange smile creeps up
around the corners

Somewhere far away
a young woman lies in bed
wide awake
her mind racing
her brain swimming

With thoughts of him
his intense stare
his quiet, careful words
and the way he touched her
with his reluctant smile

The darkness is a comforting bedfellow
soon, there will be nothing left
not even a memory to hold onto

But in her heart, she somehow knew
that the boy standing in the middle of the tracks that night
loved her with all of the desperation and longing he could muster
and she smiles and closes her eyes one final time, whispering:

“It was more than enough.”

Poem: “Someday Forever”

“Someday Forever”

HE:

Life is beautifully strange
never knew anything
but the dark lonely spaces
that have become my bedfellows

I close my eyes
and breathe you in deeply
the holes in my heart
have somehow faded

Into the background
nothing but white noise
until the only sound heard
is the slow rhythm of
your perfect heart

I am ready for you
just want the end
to go away
so we can have our small opening
to finally begin this dance of ours

SHE:

I’ve lusted before
given of my flesh
and desire to others
who were less deserving
of my womanly gifts

But nothing comes close
to what you’ve asked me
to share with you
my brain is drunk
from your subtle charms

And dreams of you cling
to my skin
refusing to let go
my craving for you
relentless

HE:

You awaken the tomb of my senses
and rekindle the flame I thought once lost
I want to crawl under your soft, sweet skin
only to consume your soul
until every inch of your being is mine

SHE:

The temptation of what we could have
is too much for my stubborn mind and fragile heart
to ignore any longer

Kiss me deeply
envelop me in the promise
of your embrace
until our mutual longing threatens
to overtake us
in the inevitable collision

I want to be
your someday
forever.

Poem: "R-rated"

“R-rated”

Be afraid when something laughs
near a bonfire
before the midnight ritual of
hanging gnomes has been
improperly conducted

Never slight a one-eyed jockey
in the shins
lest the transmission backfires
blinding you from the lovely shapes
dancing on the hood

Utter in whispers the last rumors you heard
about the corn spread
in dusty crop circles
depicting the return of
the despicable seaman

Waiting to take spaghetti noodles away
off the humps of weary camels
trying to pass through
the needle of playful smirking
ice caps.

Poem: "Brokeback Lusted"

“Brokeback Lusted”

I’m not looking to make it into Heaven tonight
she said with a knowing smile
I just want someone to warm me up
and rev up my idle engine tonight

I’m not looking to get into Hell at the moment
I just want a good time
she said with a sly wink as she slowly licked her lips
Lord knows that I’ve already got the Devil
between my thighs
if you’d just take the time to look up my skirt

If I give into desire right now
and we share a moment
of inevitable intersection
would you still want me enough

To remember my name in the morning after?

Poem: "The Last Beautiful Line"

“The Last Beautiful Line”

If you must go,
I ask only that you leave
a note
and use the front door
don’t bother looking back

If you must lie,
tell me that you never wanted me
and only watched in horror as
the wheels of deceit came crashing down

If you must dream,
let the oceans of your mind
envelop your restless heart
long enough to stifle the Indian summer

If you must die
allow me to write the words
of longing upon your heart
with my aching kiss and fervent touch
never to forget you
pouring over the last beautiful line
that was you.

Poem: "Into The Sinking"

“Into The Sinking”

HE:

The room spins
my head feels as
it’s about to explode
as I sit in this chair
words slither from the
cracks of my mind

It’s so different
everything unusually dull and tainted
since you left

SHE:

I’ve lost my way a bit
nothing’s come easy
since I found the courage to walk out that door
and not look back

I honestly don’t miss you
you were the one addiction
that I had to break
although I’d be a liar if I didn’t admit
that there were things about you
that I still desperately crave
Like the way your skin feels when you were pressed against me
the warmth and safety of your ever-present embrace
and the way you made my heart thud with each gasping breath
whenever we kissed

These small stolen moments with you shared
keep me up at night

HE:

I wish that we could go
to simpler times
when we’d share a laugh
a simple glance
a fleeting touch

Back then, that’s all it took for you and me
the fire that brought us together has faded
without you, everything seems a heavy burden
and I don’t believe I’ve paid the price

Enough for you to pull me out and save me
from  the sinking.

Poem: "Gathering Stones"

“Gathering Stones”

Thunder looming overhead
the springtime of my demise
draws nearer with each breath
to the point I can no longer bear it

The seething vantage point stares back
with hollow, crimson eyes
until the voice of despair
cackles with unbridled disdain

The world as I knew it is ending
as the grave calls to me in my unfit sleep
my arms grow weary from the fight
my strength is nothing now

So I smile and nod
and, without a single word,
gather stones to throw in into the storm
when my bright chasm is over.

Poem: "She Said"

“She Said”

She said
that she was tired of it all
was leaving everything behind
with nary a backward glance

It used to be so easy
to close her eyes
and dream of chasing the sunshine
in the middle of springtime
with everything in bloom

During the day
she visits his grave
and spends a few hours
in quiet conversation

She takes long walks now
her long hair blowing
wildly in the wind
as she smiles at
the people passing by

Then the night comes
with its silent allure
she lies in the bed
longing for his warmth
to return

If only she bid goodbye
before it was too late
for her heart
is past the break point.

Poem: "Day"

“Day”

Nothing makes sense
the sun is shining backwards
I have acquired a taste for you
and well-placed sarcastic one-liners

Warmth emanates from the oddest places
a couple dumpster drives in an nearby alley
as rats scurry in haste lest they be trampled underfoot
random strangers exchange looks and knowingly snicker

As I lay in bed
thinking of all the things
that we could do

I grab my pants
and an old shirt
wash my dirty face
and head out the door

The phone begins to ring.

Poem: "The Burning of Forever"

"The Burning of Forever"

Dearest _________,

I cannot go on like this
while the sun fades
and silent pain washes over my broken heart
oh, if you could just see my eyes
before you had to say goodbye

Memories of you
haunt my sleep
and laugh in my face
in my lonely moments
of desperation

If I could burn a candle
and hold you close
once more
maybe I could learn

to stop the burning of forever
that threatens to swallow
the last vestiges of hope

how I love you still..

Poem: "Nothing Ventured But The Sky"

"Nothing Ventured But The Sky"

To tempt fate would be
impossibly foolish and yet
here I am again like the old hag
that I have so loathed to become

The velvet splendor of youth and possibility
is gone
behind me now like a meandering road
caked in ruin and despair

She was
only a brief glimpse
mere snapshots
to be certain
memorable yet fleeting
at once

The prettiest thing
about a woman
is her tongue

The sun and its veiled corpse
of unearned promises and obituaries
does nothing to stem the tide
of horror and unkempt deceit

Her mouth upon mine
tastes like ashes before the belfry tower
trapped in a cocoon of longing and
forbidden fruit

Until I awake
bathed in sweat and agony
dying and lonely
just another tick
on God's scoreboard.

Poem: "The Distance"

"The Distance"

Night is in bloom now
the stars streak across the sky
as the world is quiet
sleep does not come calling
the dream fades into

Jaded shards of black
broken glass and hollow screams
the bed, once warm and comforting
is now forlorn and desolate

I cannot give you
whatever it was you wanted
I cannot sing the lullaby
to tame your restless heart

All I ever gave was my love
and that was not good enough
please let me waste away
in the bitter taste of my sea of woe and regret

For if forever may come too late
my soul shall never see
the heaven that was to be
you and I.
