Poem: "Fear Less"

"Fear Less"

Morning has come
burning brightly
amidst choking silence
of fading night

Rouse the sleep
from unsuspecting eye
revel in the glory
of the unspoken horror
only to capture its adorned flight

Seething waits in the dark
Until the gentle admonition
Moon and rain stills the heart

Each moment full
of anticipation
and the fearless longing

Beauty's inescapable return.

Poem: "Slow Burn"

"Slow Burn"

The night is a slave
smell of pine
bloody splotches on the linoleum floor
in the not so distant spaces
of a desperate, violent mind

The cold feel of his sinewy hands
the scowl of a coal black stare
the easy anticipation of impending fate

The seething snake still calls out
in the silence that precedes daybreak
as a candle flickers

An unspoken witness
as the convicted lights another cigarette
and as he exhales, the demons subside

Smoke lingers in the air
like a final prayer until he succumbs
to the slow burn.

Poem: "Fugitive Cliff Sniper Kill"

"Fugitive Cliff Sniper Kill"

Falling out
mom charged
hit the snooze
under the rotting tree

Fugitive sniper
murder at 2 am
drive-thru expectations
vanish slowly
with moonlight, silent and seething

Only wandering gazes
in fleeting exchange

Someone please
shut the blinds
as the moment and mood
inevitably end

Bleak and beautiful at dusk.
