"Crown of Thorns"
The man from Nazareth
born of Mary
but not of man
Calmed the storm
near Lake Galilee
cast out demons
and healed the sick
Fed the 5,000
on the mount
with a couple loaves
and fish
Peter
the rock
denied Him
three times
John
the beloved
followed Him
to the end
Judas
the betrayer
dipped his hand
in the same bowl
and sealed His fate
with a kiss
Son and carpenter
healer and prophet
Messiah
Lamb of God
If the day on Calvary comes to pass
and the faithful are shaken
let them find strength in His agony
and comfort in His last breath
Christ
the Lord
break the chains
of bondage
From the crown of thorns
that wound my forsaken heart
as temptation seethes within
strike down the Tempter
With the power
of thine mighty arm
and flaming sword.
