Poem: "Need"

"Need"

In comes the night
such an unruly mistress
the day has passed away
its splendid fire
gone

outside, the sky
patches of blue
peek out
amid the gloom

I wake up
the slow pitter-patter
of the rain as it falls
to the parched earth

you lay next to me
your arms on my bare chest
you look up at me
and smile knowingly

we kiss
your lips taste
ever so sweet, darling
your hands touch
all over my body

I hold you close
the silence lingers
amid the whispers
of temptation

our bodies intertwine
in long moments
dripping, aching
sensual longing

in the aftermath
of the deluge
where passion and lust
collide desperately

love lies at the feet
of beautiful need.
